The Meg 2 sees Jason Statham reprise his role from the first movie as Jonas Taylor.
Let’s face it, aside from the huge shark, we were only invested in this sequel for Stath and Stath alone. Alongside him, supporting cast members Cliff Curtis,Sophia Cai, and Page Kennedy reprise their roles as Mac, Meiying, and DJ, respectively.
New additions also joined the cast, includingSienna Guillory, Skyler Samuels, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Chinese superstar Jing Wu, and Ray Strachan.

What are people saying about The Meg 2?
This is where it gets awkward, because reviews for The Meg 2 have been very negative indeed.
Perhaps the biggest piece of hype surrounding the movie so far is the Rotten Tomatoes score, which, at the time of writing, is 25%. For a while there, it sat at 0%. Basically, the consensus seems to be that the fun of the first movie hasn’t been replicated, and that The Meg 2 suffers from one of the worst accusations a movie can face: being boring.

What is The Meg 2 about?
The Meg 2 has Jonas on a mission to explore the trench that the original megalodon escaped from.
Unfortunately, things go wrong when a “malevolent mining operation” allows the largest meg ever recorded to escape the trench and it goes on a rampage across the seven seas.
To make matters worse, it wasn’t just the one meg that escaped. Two other huge sharks have made their way to the surface (along with countless other prehistoric beasts) and the three megalodons are intent on turning the world’s beaches into an all you-can-eat buffet.
Is there a trailer for The Meg 2?
The Meg 2 trailer dropped on May 8, 2023, and revealed that there was not one, but three megalodon for Statham and his crew to fight.
As you can see, the trailer hyped up the sheer absurdity of the megalodon drama, hinting at all the wild scenes the sequel has to offer. While the first movie was plenty bizarre, The Meg 2’s trailer definitely suggests that they wanted to up the ante. Check it out for yourself below.

Will The Meg 3 happen?
Nothing has been said about The Meg 3, but plenty of people are hyped about the new movie so maybe the studio will lean into that and make more.
The mainproblem, though,is we can’t imagine there’s much more story to explore in this world. However, if The Meg 2 has a decent box office showing once again, like the first movie, there’s every chance the studio will push for more offerings.
