Can I put vinegar in my Bissell PowerFresh steam mop? ›

Filtered Vinegar:Always use filtered and clear vinegar with your steam mop,as the unfiltered vinegar may contain particles that can clog your steam mop. A stronger mixture may increase the risk of damaging your steam mop.

There could be several factors as to why your BISSELL PowerFresh steam mop is not producing steam. First, check to make sure the unit is plugged in and is in a working outlet. Next, check to make sure there is water in the tank. It is very important to make sure you are ONLY using water to fill the tank.

Using the provided water cup, fill the tank with distilled or demineralized water. We recommend using distilled or demineralized water in place of tap water. Do not use any chemicals in the water tank.

Tap water should only be used as a last resort. If you use tap water on a regular basis, you will need to clean it out periodically. Use 8 oz of white vinegar to 8 oz of water. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then rinse your steamer out with plain water until it no longer smells of vinegar.

Use tap water instead of distilled water to fill the steamer. (Tap water, especially in areas with hard water, contains minerals that build up in the steamer's water reservoir and nozzle.) Leave water in the tank instead of emptying it after each use.

If no steam is forming, it could be because the components are not aligned correctly. Inspect the cap on the water tank to make sure it is not cracked and that the rubber gasket used to prevent leaks is still attached.

There's a lot to like about this Bissell steam mop–in our tests, it worked equally as effectively on tile, grout, concrete, and sealed hardwood floors.

Unwrap the power cord and plug into an outlet. Once plugged in, allow the unit to heat up for 30 seconds or until the Steam Ready Light illmuniates. When the Steam Ready Light is on, press the ON button to turn on the machine and then proceed to choose your level of steam.

When the unit is plugged in, the ready light will start to blink. The ready light will blink for 30 seconds and then turn solid. Press the on/off button - the power light under the on/off button will turn solid, indicating that PowerFresh Deluxe is on. Select your steam level.
