Scarabs can be found as random drops, as well as from Safehouses of the Immortal Syndicate. Scarabs have a limit on how many of the same Scarab can be applied to a map. If using multiples of a Scarab, each Scarab must placed in its own map device slot in order for it to be used.

Each Scarab has a limit from 1 to 4, regulating the number of copies you're able to use together in the Map Device. For example, Bestiary Scarabs are limited to 1 as they add Einhar to your Maps. However, Anarchy Scarabs are Limit 4, allowing you to add up to 16 Rogue Exiles to your Map.

Memory Maps are not affected by your Atlas Passive Tree. You also can't use fragments such as Scarabs. Memory Maps can be crafted directly in the NPC's window, but note they can't be taken out, so careful with Corrupting them! If you fail a Memory Map, don't worry; you can still do the next ones in the chain.

Unique maps have these numbers restricted if not fixed. Moreover, the passives from Atlas Skill Tree will not apply, and you cannot upgrade them with Scarabs, making them not as good as Rare Maps in almost any case. Unique Maps are often run when looking for a specific reward or atlas progression.
