Best Genshin Layla Build

Best Layla Build: Summary

Weapon:The Key of Khaj-NisutORPrimordial Jade-Cutter
Artifacts:Tenacity of the Millelith 4pcORNoblesse Oblige 4pc
Sands:HP%OREnergy Recharge
Goblet:HP% (support)ORCryo DMG% (offense)
Circlet:HP% (support)ORCRIT (offense)

Layla is best used as a support character focused on shielding your team and applying Cryo to enemies using her Elemental Skill. Since her shield is based on her Max HP, it is best to maximize her HP stat through her weapons and artifacts. Her constellations will further make her shields more effective as well as make it easier for her to get energy to cast her Elemental Burst.

Layla can be built purely for damage, but it ends up being less beneficial for the team in the long run.

Her fourth constellation increases the party's damage based on her max HP, making that stat important for her performance. For talents, you might want to increase her Elemental Skill's level first, following her elemental burst, then her normal attack last if you want to focus on her capability to protect your team with her shields.

Luckily, Layla does not need to build a ton of Energy Recharge to Burst frequently, and so she won't need a second Cryo character to generate energy for her either. This helps her team flexibility.

Best Genshin Layla Team Composition

Since Layla is a support character, she can fit almost any team composition that benefits from a shielding support and a cryo enabler. That being said, she can also be played purely as an enabler. She's the kind of character that can do most of the things you want her to, except main DPSing unless, of course, you create a team that centers around only just that.

Just like what's said above, Layla is super flexible with a lot of characters that can benefit from her Cryo applications such as Klee and Yoimiya for their melt reactions. She can also be a really effective partner for basically any DPS that needs Cryo in their lives for their elemental reactions.

Examples of Main DPS that can benefit from her cryo application:

  • Keqing (Physical build)
  • Klee
  • Yoimiya
  • Diluc
  • Hu Tao
  • Ganyu (When Layla gets her C4)

So, basically, what you want to do is pair her with one of the main DPS characters here and fill up the rest. A basic team composition could be:

Melt/Vaporize

  • Layla
  • Diluc / Hu Tao / Yoimiya
  • Kazuha / Yelan / Xingqiu
  • Bennett / Xingqiu

This composition will take advantage of the melt reaction from Layla and Diluc. Kazuha is included for grouping the enemies while Bennett is there if you need healing. Bennett's short cooldown has excellent Synergy with Layla's abilities, granting benefits whenever characters use the Skills. Alternatively, she can serve as a generic healer.

Additionally, Layla works excellently in Freeze, Fridge (Bloom), and even Mono-Cryo teams. Here are examples of each:

Freeze/Fridge:

  • Layla
  • Cryo DPS (Ganyu, Ayaka) or Hydro DPS (Ayato, Tartaglia)
  • Hydro Support (Mona, Kokomi) or Dendro Support (Collei, Dendro Traveler)
  • Anemo Support (Jean, Sayu, Kazuha, Sucrose, Venti)

Mono-Cryo

  • Layla
  • Shenhe
  • Ganyu or Ayaka
  • Anemo Support (Jean, Sayu, Kazuha, Sucrose, Venti)

Best Genshin Layla Weapons

Layla's best weapon will likely be either The Key of Khaj-Nisut, which increases her HP and Elemental Mastery, or Primordial Jade-Cutter, which increases HP and ATK%.

Harbinger of Dawn is a fantastic 3-star offensive option if you can keep Layla's HP above 90%; not too difficult considering she shields herself from damage. It even matches both 5-star options in damage output!

Favonius Sword and Sacrificial Sword are the best 4-star support weapons, with Favonius being the most universal and effective by far. Make sure Layla has around 30% CRIT Rate or more, even if she doesn't focus on damage, when equipping Favonius Sword to guarantee its incredibly powerful passive effect.

Festering Desire will increase her Elemental Skill DMG and CRIT while Xiphos' Moonlight will increase the damage she does with elemental reactions.

Best Genshin Layla Artifacts

The best artifact set for Layla would be the Tenacity of the Millelith, followed by Noblesse Oblige. Both 4pc sets offer similar buffs, though Tenacity's can be kept going indefinitely, making it better the longer a fight goes on. Blizzard Strayer trails far behind and at this point, it feels just like it's an honorable mention. Tenacity of the Millelith does everything Layla wants in an artifact. It increases shield strength and increases the ATK of all party members, and Noblesse Oblige does a decent Tenacity impression.

Blizzard Strayer is a niche artifact that can benefit characters such as Ganyu if you want to make her crit with her charged attack all the time.

For main stats, try to look for an HP% or Energy Recharge sands, an HP% or Cryo DMG% goblet, and an HP% or CRIT circlet. You mostly want to have one or two HP% artifacts for her to be comfortable. Opt for HP% on all artifacts for a support build, and pick damage and CRIT artifacts on Goblet and Circlet for offensive builds.

Artifact Name2-Piece4-Piece
Tenacity of the MillelithHP +20%When an Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the ATK of all nearby party members is increased by 20% and their Shield Strength is increased by 30% for 3s. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s. This effect can still be triggered even when the character who is using this artifact set is not on the field.
Blizzard StrayerCryo DMG Bonus +15%When a character attacks an enemy affected by Cryo, their CRIT Rate is increased by 20%. If the enemy is Frozen, CRIT Rate is increased by an additional 20%.
